The Creative Director, Fatima Gidado, derived excitement from being able to create an edit around a special event such as Ramadan; the significance of spirituality and celebration, and how this can be embodied in clothes.
She drew inspiration from the simplicity, fluidity and elegance of Middle-Eastern fashion, while staying true to the brand’s ethos of designing evolving clothes for today’s stylish and modest woman.

When you think of the popular faces in the Nigeria fashion industry, Ifeanyi Okafor Jr, comes to mind. He is always impeccably decked in a nice piece of suit and well known within mens fashion. Do you agree?

What was it like to be a style influencer?

It’s an opportunity and privilege I am not taking for granted. It’s the best feeling in the world knowing that people relate to and appreciate your work. It’s just amazing.

Turtlenecks or capes?

The song you would walk down the runway to?

Touch By Shura

Late nights or early mornings?

Late Nights.

Who should be given a fashion Oscar in Nigeria:

Haha. That’s a tough one as everyone’s doing great work but I think Bayo Oke-Lawal should be given.

Best thing to do between fashion shows?

Networking, Networking and more Networking.

What would you order?

I love chicken and Plantains! Or anything that has that. Lol

Dream dinner party guests?

That’s gonna be a very long list. Lol

If you could have one quote to define you that will resonate forever, what would that quote be?

“Fashion Fades, Style Is Eternal” – Yves Saint Laurent.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Would you tell us a bit about yourself and your love for fashion?

SARAH AUDU: I never really know how to answer that question but I am a corper currently stationed in Calabar. I love God, talking, shoes and of course food. As for my love of fashion I love being able to express myself through what I wear.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: What inspired “Princess Audu”?

SARAH AUDU: I remember stumbling upon one of my favorite blogs and thinking to myself I can do this too. Plus there was the fact that I shopped way too much and felt like I needed a reason to justify it.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: How long has it been running?

SARAH AUDU: My blog marked its second year anniversary in November this year.

With so many style bloggers on the blog sphere, what makes your blog stand out?

SARAH AUDU: To be honest it’s not always easy to stand out especially with so many blogs out there but I try to be as honest with my followers by putting myself out there. Basically, I just try to be myself.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: What strikes us most is the way your readers follow you religiously through your journey and move back home, could you share a bit of how you created this online “relationship” with your readers?

SARAH AUDU: As I mentioned in the last question, I like to talk about other things outside fashion. I share my views on the issues to create a dialogue between me and my readers.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Has your style evolved since starting you’re your blog? If yes how?

SARAH AUDU: Yes definitely, I would say it has become more polished and mature. I have also learnt how to recycle pieces as I have cut down on my old shopping habit.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: We’re a bit nervous about keeping a strong style game over the holidays. Could you suggest cute looks we should have ready to wear the season?

SARAH AUDU: You can’t go wrong with a red dress; it is perfect for the celebrations and can be restyled for other occasions. Also don’t be afraid to add a little sparkle with sequins, you can try something like a sequin crop top with either a pair of high-waist jeans or a midi-skirt.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Which colour should we have on to make us stand out amongst our friends to look fabulous?

SARAH AUDU: Color? I’d say colors. Color blocking is a great way to stand out and stay trendy.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Which fashion outlets do you think we can find some last minute stylish gifts for friends and family in your city?

SARAH AUDU: I recommend TNL Designs for your dresses and shoes while Jumia Nigeria has a wide selection of items

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Lisa Folawiyo Vs Eku Edewor?

SARAH AUDU: Lisa Folawiyo

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Nigerian fashion industry keeps evolving and growing, how would you describe style in Nigeria and what’s your opinion on the state of the industry.

SARAH AUDU: I love that there is more variety out there. Nigerians are now embracing more international trends. It’s also great seeing more Nigerians rocking designs from our very own Designers but there is always room for improvement.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Which up and coming designers are currently on your radar?

SARAH AUDU: I have my eye on Eve and Tribe and TNL Designs.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Which African fashion brand would you love to work with?

SARAH AUDU: I’d love to work with TNL Designs

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Which trends are you most excited about to see the next season?

SARAH AUDU: I’d like to see culottes, bell bottoms and khaki still in style next season.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Name 3 international bloggers that are on your “most stylish” list?

SARAH AUDU: Wendy’s Lookbook, Freddie Harrel and The Daileigh

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Who was your favorite celeb this year, why and which look was your favorite?

SARAH AUDU: Lupita Nyongo, it’s so hard to pick a favorite because she slays in everything.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: Name 3 female fashion bloggers and 3 male fashion bloggers that you think are #AfricanbloggersKillingit.

SARAH AUDU: For the female bloggers, Jadore-Fashion, Ranti In Review and This Is Ess while for the male bloggers I’d have to say Akin Faminu, Steven Onoja and Noble Igwe.  The list is endless though.

THE GLOWINGCOLOURS: 2015 has been an interesting year for all, who has inspires you the most this year?

How to Make $4.5 million a year Blogging? Meet This 22 Year Old Nigerian-British YouTube Vlogger

Move over Linda Ikeji, meet Olajide “JJ” Olatunji another millionaire blogger, thanks to YouTube.

Forbes has listed its first-ever Top Youtube stars and earners, what we can call the “YouTube Millionaires list”. The list is definitely a must read for aspiring and current internet entrepreneurs. The millionaires list has an interesting feature – a 22 Year Old Nigerian-British YouTuber Olajide “JJ” Olatunji best known by his YouTube username KSI.

According to Forbes, he made about $4.5 million (about 900 million Naira) within the last 12 months.
UK-based KSI is described as “a video game commentator, comedian and rapper. Most of his content is targeted at teenagers and young men. He is best known for his YouTube channel, which has, as of October 2015, reached over 10.8 million subscribers with over 2 billion views!”
He began his journey as a YouTuber in 2006 and has grown since then, with most of his uploads averaging over 4 million views. Though born in the UK, his parents (who he has featured on his page) are from Nigeria.

He made most of his money through YouTube’s Partner Program and Google Adsense. With additional revenue from brand affiliations and deals. The stated amount is after taxes and manager fees.

His hip-hop single “Lamborghini” reached number 30 on the U.K. charts in April.

DOUBLE DENIM by Akin Faminu

The Double Denim trend has definitely had it’s past misfortunes, it’s era as an early faux pas, when it was a fashion taboo to go out pairing jeans, well unless you were a cowboy, or Britney Spears, or Justin Timberlake sporting the ‘Canadian Tuxedo’.

Akin-Faminu-Double-Denim -TheGlowingColours
But thankfully, something changed and slowly the double denim trend found it’s way back into the fashion game with a more modern edge than before, and with such a diversity that everybody could create their own personal double denim style and right now, it has become a Massive trend! One of my personal favorites.

In this editorial, we’re exploring different ways of wearing the same double denim outfit and something for the ladies as well.
The first look has the ‘Dapper’ approach to it, although it’s more laid back than the typical formal ensemble. Contrasting shades of blue denim , with a blazer, single monkstrapped shoes , and accessorized with a bit of African,  that’s the Ankara bowtie and a hat, preference to the men that dig the Dapper look.

The second is a more laid back and rather SPORTY look, same outfit but this time buttoned down, rolled up sleeves, and Nike Air Max kicks.

Styled the lady using contrasting shades as well, with a Chambray shirt, a crop tom underneath, Emma Stone style and a pair of heels.

There are certain tips you should note to pull off your Double Denim perfectly, consider;
– Varying your Shades
– Injecting some colour and
– Accessorizing.

Have a lovely day guys, and Step out in Style always!
